If you love spicy, savory comfort food, this place might easily become your next obsession. Whether it’s for lunch, dinner, or just hanging out in the late afternoon, DIMSUM CHIKA has slowly become one of my repeat food spots in Bali, especially during office lunch breaks.

The first reason I came here was actually simple: their Chili Oil Noodles. But unexpectedly, I found something even more exciting. They also sell Sate Taichan. And honestly? Finding good Sate Taichan in Bali is surprisingly difficult. People from Jakarta will immediately understand this struggle.

At first, I thought DIMSUM CHIKA would just be another casual dimsum place. Turns out, the menu is much bigger than that. Besides their popular Mie Chilli Oil and Sate Taichan, they also serve: Fried rice, Hainan rice, various dimsum selections and other comforting street style dishes

And after coming here quite often during lunch hours, I can honestly say: most of the menu tastes consistently good. From an honest local review perspective, this is the kind of place where you don’t really stress about what to order because almost everything feels safe and satisfying.

The Mie Chilli Oil has that addictive spicy-savoury combination that makes you keep eating even when you’re already full. Rich chilli flavour, oily in a good way, slightly numbing, but still balanced enough to enjoy comfortably. And paired with Sate Taichan? Honestly, one of the best combinations for people who love bold flavors.

Of course, no place is perfect.

From my honest local review, the biggest downside here is probably the waiting time. The number of staff seems limited, so food preparation can take quite a while, especially during busy lunch hours. For office workers like me who only have around one hour for lunch, this can feel a bit stressful because by the time the food arrives, you end up eating too quickly.

The parking area is also quite small. In fact, one time my leg accidentally touched a motorcycle exhaust while parking and I ended up with a small burn on my calf. Definitely not my brightest moment. But aside from those small inconveniences, the overall experience still feels enjoyable and worth coming back to.

The dining area is fully semi-outdoor. The atmosphere reminds me of simple Chinese-style dimsum eateries, decorated with colorful Chinese posters and casual street-food vibes. It’s not luxurious or aesthetic in a polished café way, but it feels lively, approachable, and easy to enjoy. Especially in the late afternoon when the weather starts cooling down a little.
