5. Never invite strangers to your place.
If you live alone in Bali, never disclose your place of residence on social media, let alone invite strangers to your home, specially after party. Do not give others the opportunity to have malicious intentions.
6. Share your live map location with your 24/7 friends when traveling alone.
If you are traveling alone to a new or distant place or with someone you have just met, do not forget to share your live location with your trusted contacts. Update them when you have arrived or returned safely.
7. Go to crowded places when someone creeps on you.
Whether local or foreign, stalkers can be anyone. If you are traveling by motorbike or walking in a secluded area and feel followed along the way, head to a crowded and well-lit place. Look for a friend who has the same destination or wait for another vehicle going in the same direction.
8. Do not trust anyone, including your neighbor.
Lastly, do not trust anyone, even your neighbor. Theft in Bali is still prevalent, whether it is committed by guest house workers or neighbors. Be friendly, but do not give out any personal information, and always lock your room and windows before sleeping. Consider installing CCTV in your room, as some accommodations offer room cleaning services every week.
If you're thinking about living in Bali or traveling solo to this beautiful island, I encourage you to take the leap! Don't let fear hold you back from experiencing all the joy and adventure that life has to offer.

Living alone in Bali can be an exciting and unique experience for many. Although Bali is often known for its nightlife, the island has so much more to offer, such as beaches, forests, and mountains. Moreover, there are many positive communities, including art, NFT, sports, travel, and cooking. All hobbies have their community here. Bali may be a small island, but the diversity of visitors and residents makes it unique, even for those who live alone.
However, just like in any big city, there are some things to consider when living alone in Bali. Here are some tips to keep in mind:
1. Have health insurance.
The weather in Bali is known to be hot, and it can easily affect our health, especially for those who are not used to the climate. Temperature changes from the heat outside to the cold air indoors, such as in a room, office, cafe, or mall, can affect our bodies. Besides, there is a high chance of contracting Bali Belly, a foodborne illness caused by unclean or undercooked food. Bali is also a tropical island, and mosquitoes that cause dengue fever can be dangerous. Therefore, it is essential to have health insurance that covers various hospitals in Bali.
2. Stay connected with your family and friends.
Living alone does not mean cutting off communication with family and friends. Keep them updated on your daily life, and they will notice any changes in you and understand what you need. When moving to a new house, job, or when there is a new neighbor, they can keep track of such information in case of an emergency.
3. Share your relationship story with your inner circle.
Living alone in Bali may lead some people to seek new friendships. When making new friends, do not forget to share their faces on social media or in your group chat. Share how you met them and what you have in common. You do not need to publish it publicly, but it is essential that someone knows that you have made new friends or are in a relationship.
4. Never publish your address or room number on social media.
Unfortunately, there have been many cases in Bali where people have made friends through dating apps, followed them on social media, and ended up being stalked by someone creepy, who even waited in front of their house. So, avoid updating your residential address or information that provides your room number.
