After spending the day around Kuta, my friend and I weren’t looking for anything fancy.
No beach club.
No trendy café.
No expensive dinner spot.
We just wanted somewhere warm, simple, and comforting before heading home. That’s how we ended up at Sokkabita Bar, a small Japanese eatery tucked away in Seminyak. At first glance, it looks modest. Quiet even. But sometimes, places like this end up becoming the most memorable ones.

Sokkabita bar, Bali
Location: Jl. Plawa, Seminyak, Kec. Kuta, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361
When people think about Japanese restaurants in Bali, they usually imagine premium sushi, expensive omakase, or aesthetic plating with imported fish. But Sokkabita Bar feels completely different. The menu is simple. Homey. The kind of food that feels more like something someone cooks for you after a long day, rather than something designed for social media. That night, I ordered Japanese curry rice. It came in a small bowl with warm tea on the side, and honestly—it felt perfect for the evening atmosphere.
Warm, comforting, uncomplicated.
From an honest local review perspective, this is the kind of meal you remember not because it’s luxurious, but because it makes you feel relaxed.
Personally, I think Sokkabita Bar is best enjoyed at night. After a long day of traffic, work, or exploring Bali, this place feels calming. No loud music. No pressure to dress up. No overly curated atmosphere. Just warm food, friendly energy, and a small space that somehow makes you want to stay a little longer.
So, If you’re looking for a Bali food recommendation beyond cafés and beach clubs, this little Japanese hideout in Seminyak might become one of your favorite late-night spots too.

Inside, the space follows the familiar style of a small Japanese diner. Simple wooden seating, warm lighting, and a cozy atmosphere. But what makes Sokkabita Bar special are the little details scattered around the room, Manga posters, Studio Ghibli decorations, Japanese movie stickers, Comic collections and Small anime figures
The space feels personal, almost like stepping into someone’s favorite hobby room. And strangely enough, those little decorations become conversation starters. In the small dining space, people naturally start talking to each other. The owner even helps connect conversations between customers who are dining there at the same time.
It reminded me so much of my favorite Netflix series, Midnight Diner.
I’ve never been to Japan, so maybe this is part of their culture. In Indonesia, the closest comparison would probably be a warm and familiar warkop, simple places where strangers somehow end up sharing conversations.
