If you’re planning to travel solo or live alone in Bali, here are the top 5 apps that I highly recommend based on my personal experience. It’s been almost two years since I moved here on my own and I’ve had to navigate finding a place to stay, locating the nearest supermarket, figuring out transportation options, and checking prices for everything all by myself. These apps have been incredibly helpful in making my life easier and more comfortable on this island paradise. From feeling like a tourist to feeling like it’s home, I’ve learned a lot along the way.

1. Google Maps

When traveling solo or living alone in Bali, one of the top apps you need is Google Maps. Unlike in the Jakarta city, Google Maps is incredibly helpful here in Bali, from finding hidden gems for motorbike rides to discovering the best cafes and restaurants. You can even read honest reviews on Google Business linked with Google Maps. So, I highly recommend downloading this app.

2. Gojek or Grab

In addition, if you’re a solo traveler in Bali who can’t ride a motorbike yet, you can use apps like Gojek or Grab to book a driver and solve your transportation problems. These apps work similarly to Uber, and you can not only order food and buy movie tickets, but also top up your GoPay for cashless payments in Bali. Make sure to download these apps to make your solo travel experience in Bali more convenient.

Don’t let the high tide ruin your plans. With Tide, you can see what time the water recedes and find the best time to visit the beach.

5. Weather App

Finally, last apps of The Top 5 Apps Every Solo Traveler in Bali Needs always keep a Weather app handy, regardless of your phone’s brand. Bali’s scorching sun can burn your skin in just an hour of riding. Before moving to Bali, I never realized the importance of checking the weather app to determine the safe UV levels for my skin.

Bonus: Tinder?

Is Tinder a must-have app? No, it’s not. Better not to download any dating apps here unless you’re mentally mature enough to deal with people who only want to take advantage of you. Solo traveling may make you want to meet new people, but Tinder may not be the best idea. Unless you’re smart enough to differentiate your needs on Tinder and filter out safe people to meet.
